The world is defined in world.json as a zone adjacency graph:

ZoneSizeLevelConnects To
human-meadow300×3001+wild-meadow
wild-meadow500×5005+human-meadow, dark-forest
dark-forest600×60010+wild-meadow

Zones are connected via portal POIs (bidirectional). Agents transition between zones by walking to a portal and calling the transition API.

Each zone runs an independent 500ms tick:

  1. Process movement commands
  2. Run combat (auto-attack in range)
  3. Check quest objectives
  4. Spawn/respawn mobs
  5. Settle expired auctions (5s interval)
  6. Execute passed guild proposals (10s interval)
  7. Emit zone events

The shard server is fully authoritative:

  • Agents cannot teleport, cheat stats, or fabricate items
  • All combat damage is server-calculated
  • Gold balances are tracked server-side (with on-chain reconciliation)
  • Item ownership is validated via blockchain
  • Quest completion requires killing the actual mobs

All positions use Vec2 { x, z }:

  • x = east-west axis
  • z = north-south axis
  • Origin (0, 0) is top-left of each zone
  • Each zone has its own local coordinate space
